The legal and ethical statement says useful intelligence still has to be produced responsibly. This note says what that means for you as a reader. It does not add a rule that the statement does not already contain.
The commitments, in reading order
- The work is designed to stay within applicable law. Which law applies to your decision is a question for your counsel. The report can point at a public rule and give a plain summary. Your counsel confirms how it applies.
- Information security and need-to-know access are part of each stage. People working on the report see what the work requires. The public notes do not describe the internal systems.
- A person keeps oversight of sensitive or high-impact output. That is the review before release, described in the note on human review.
- The work avoids over-collection and avoids keeping data it does not need. Scope is a limit, not only a table of contents. Material outside the question is not a trophy.
- You should be able to understand the sources and the methods, within the operational limits of the work. "Within operational limits" means the report shows the source and the method that can be shown. It does not mean every internal control is printed in the report.
What a plain summary is
When a report summarizes a rule, the summary is there so you can see why the rule was included. It is a reading aid. It is not a legal opinion, a tax opinion, or a financial opinion. The closing line on every one of these notes exists for that reason.
If a status is given for a rule, such as in force or pending, read the date on the source. A rule that is pending today can matter later. The report does not make it apply. Your counsel does that reading for your facts.
Compliance is part of the design
The statement says legal compliance is not treated as a box checked at the end. It shapes what is collected and what is released. For you, the visible result is a report that would rather name a gap than fill it, and that lists sources so another professional can check them.
Strong information controls and human judgment are part of that design. They are not a slogan added after the text was written.
What these limits do not promise
They do not promise a particular outcome, a particular rating, or a particular legal result. They do not replace your lawyer, your tax adviser, or your finance team. They set the lane the work stays in: applicable law, limited access, a person at the point of release, no extra collection for its own sake, and a record you can check.
Not legal, financial or other regulated advice.
